Eating raw

Japan, Shizuoka Pref., Short Cultural Story

I wonder if there are any foods that Japanese people don’t eat raw.

I am not a big fan but some people like to eat chicken meat raw at special restaurants. At barbecue restaurants, many people don’t grill the meat completely but pick it up from the fire very quickly.

The other day, I visited a ryokan, a Japanese style inn, located in right in from of the Iritahama beach, Shizuoka Pref.

Needless to say, their speciality is seafood as shown on the pic above. We enjoyed the lobsters called Ise ebi (literally means shrimp of Ise area) raw. This dish was not the only raw dish but we found several kinds of sashimi (slice of raw fish) as our first course.
