Do you know what Satoyama is?

DSC_0170Sato: the residential area of human beings. Usually it is spread in the foot of the mountainous landscape.

Yama: mountain

=Satoyama: an area where people and nature coexist.

 

 

DSC_0174Noto Peninsula is one of the famous places in Japan for its beautiful satoyama and satoumi*.

*Umi: sea.

My friend drove for me but I found so many cyclists at the Noto Airport. Cycling shall be a wonderful option to enjoy the nature.

My visit was in late May and I was so lucky that I learned the region will have much much rain once the rainy season starts in June. Is the region having rain today?
