Locals describe the Minatogawa (Imizu City, Toyama) canal area as the Venezia of Japan.
Telling the truth, it made me laugh (sorry!) because we saw few people, no tourists but us so from that point of view, the area is nothing to do with Venezia. However the bridge was decorated nicely with glass art, one of the elements that Venezia is famous for. The bridge made me recall the beauty of the City of Water, far far away.
Moving to the City northwest to Imizu, called Himi. They had a nice port.
Went up and up the narrow curvy bumpy road (by car), we again saw the same port but this time, from the hilltop.
On the top of the hill, there is a nice restaurant called Saysfarm and they own their own vineyard.
I enjoyed the contrast of the view at the waterfront and from the hilltop in one day.
